जिन्दगानी

कहिले बल्दो आगो जस्तो, कहिले चिसो पानी
कहिले कस्तो कहिले कस्तो लाग्छ जिन्दगानी

फरक फरक हुने किन सबको आनीबानी
आँशुहाँसो भइराख्ने कस्तो यो कहानी
संघर्ष हो लड्नै पर्छ भन्ने जानी जानी
कस्तो कस्तो किन लाग्छ आफ्नै जिन्दगानी !!

टिकाउ हो या हो क्षणिक फूलको जवानी
कहिले कस्तो कहिले कस्तो लाग्छ जिन्दगानी

एउटा शासक ढल्यो आज......

एउटा शासक ढल्यो आज, अर्को नजन्मियोस्
शान्ती छोरी बेहुली बनी, अन्तै नअन्मियोस् !!

खुलेको छ नारायणहिटी, रत्नपार्क झैं बन्नुहुन्न
जाति-धर्म सबै एकै तेरो-मेरो भन्नुहुन्न
मिली बनाउँ देश अब, द्वेष नजन्मियोस्
शान्ती छोरी बेहुली बनी, अन्तै नअन्मियोस् !!


हेर्दै गरौं नेतागणलाई, अन्धविश्वाश गर्नुहुन्न
सचेत हामी जनता छौं, उनको भर पर्नुहुन्न
देशमा फेरि अर्को देश-द्रोही नजन्मियोस्
शान्ती छोरी बेहुली बनी, अन्तै नअन्मियोस् !!

Mahabir, Myagdi and Myself

Being related to the eastern part of Nepal, I hardly got any opportunity to visit the western parts. I heard and read many things about Palpa, Baglung, Manang, Mustang, Myagdi and other beautiful places of my own beautiful country but never got any chance to get indulged in the beauty of those places. I thought those places as beautiful but undeveloped places of Nepal. I used to ask many things to my classmates from Jumla and Accham about the infrastructures in their places. I used to think, how they could live in such a place where they could not watch television and read books from all over the world.

In 2007, Dr. Mahabir Pun from Myagdi won Roman Magasaysay Award for community leadership. He was “recognized for his innovative application of wireless computer technology in Nepal, bringing progress to remote mountain areas by connecting his village to the global village”. I was proud of Dr. Pun to heard this news but I was very much surprised too. Being a proud Nepali, I did not even know about the developments in Nepal. I was ashamed of myself at that time and very much eager to know more about Myagdi. Previously, I wanted to visit the place because of its natural beauty and after knowing about Dr. Pun, I wanted to visit Myagdi to see the technological advancement in the inaccessible villages.

Dr. Pun has now expanded the wireless networks all over twelve villages of Myagdi. Teachers in one school of Myagdi, teach students of another school. People of Myagdi consult with doctors of Pokhara using tele-conferencing. These things are not so easy for Nepal where the rate of development is very low but Dr. Pun has turned impossible to possible. He has proved that we can spread the light of technology all over Nepal. We can ornate the beauty of Nepal by the glitters of technological development. Nepal is indeed a beautiful country; we can enhance the beauty by developing each and every part and making the basic needs like education, health and safety accessible to all the Nepalese people.

Now, I am studying in a university of USA. Unfortunately, I did not get chance to visit Myagdi but my eagerness to visit villages of Myagdi is increasing. I want to see the villagers of my country taking online instructions from their doctors; I want to see the small scale businessmen dealing with their foreigner clients. I want to meet the role model Dr. Mahabir Pun and thank him for giving us a new direction, new hope and new idea for the development of the nation. I think my thirst will be quenched only after I visit there.

नयाँ नेपाल

बिहान उठेपछि नित्यकर्म गरेर यसो एउटा पत्रिका पल्टाएको त मलाई चार सय चालीस भोल्टको करेन्ट लागेजस्तै भयो । के अचम्म यो ? अचानक यस्तो परिवर्तन कसरी भयो ? हिजो अस्ति छापिने हत्या, अपहरण, लुटपाट, बन्द, पेट्रोल, मट्टितेल, ग्यास, पानी, बत्ती आदिको कमी आदी समाचारहरु आज पत्रिकामा छैनन् । त्यहाँ अर्कै शीर्षक छ - " नेपाली वैग्यानिकहरुको अन्तरीक्षमा जाने तयारी " । अर्को पाना पल्टाएँ त्यहाँ अर्को धमाकेदार शीर्षक थियो - "हेलम्बुका स्याउ अमेरिका निर्यात हुन थाले" । तीन छक्क परें म । हिजोसम्म हेलम्बुका स्याउ काठमाडौं नि ल्याउन नसकेर भारतका स्याउ खाने हामी नेपाली, आज स्याउ निर्यात गर्ने कसरी भयौं । पत्रिका त हिजो अस्ति नि पढेकै हो, मलाई थाहै नभइ नेपालमा विकासको लहर आइसकेको हो त!! नेताहरु नयाँ नेपाल, नयाँ नेपाल भन्थे, केही विश्वास लागेको थिएन, हो पो रै छ, हाम्रो नेपालका नेतापनि केही गर्न सक्ने पो रैछन । अचम्मको र खुशीको मिस्रित भावना मेरो मनमा छताछुल्ल भयो!
फ्रान्ज काफ्काको "मेटामोर्फोसिस" कथामा कथाको पात्र राति सुतेर बिहान उठ्दा साङ्लोमा परिणत भए जस्तै हाम्रो नेपालमा पनि भएको हो कि, पढाइमा व्यस्त भए जस्तै भएर म, आफ्नै देशमा आएको विकासको नौलो लहरसँग पनि अपरिचित हुँ, मैले बुझ्नै सकिन । आज गाइजात्रा वा अप्रिल फस्ट त होइन ? आफैंलाई सोधें मैले । " अहँ होइन, आज त अप्रिल २८, फस्ट अप्रिल सकिइसक्यो, गाइजात्रा आएकै छैन । " फेरि आफैंले उत्तर दिएँ । त्यसैबेला आमाले कोठाभित्र छिर्दै भन्नु भो - "बत्ती किन नबालेकी, म त उठेकै छैनस् भन्ने सोच्दै थिएँ , कलेज जाने बेला भएन ?"
" भयो आमा, अब जान्छु, आज बत्ती जाने दिन भनेर मैले स्वीच अन नै गरिन"
"हैन के भन्छे यो, अब नेपालमा कहिले बत्ती जाँदैन भन्ने थाह छैन तँलाई !! "
झनै छक्क परें म ।
"पत्र-पत्रिका पढ्ने बानी भए पो थाह हुन्छ समाचार, तिमीहरुलाई टिभीमा पनि ढुङ्ग्रे र मुन्द्रे उफ्रेको हेरेरै पुग्दैन " आमाले नि पाको बेलामा व्यङ्ग्य हानिहाल्नु भो ।त्यसैले आफूलाई यी कुरा साँच्चै थाह भएको बारे मैले केही भनिन । चुपचाप तयार भएर, चिया सिया खाएर, कलेज तिर हिंडें ।

आज बसस्टप मा धेरै बेर कुर्नु नि परेन । हुल गरेर मारा मार गर्दै बस उक्लिन नि परेन । बसको सीट भरिन नि अलि अलि बाँकि नै थियो । हिजो अस्ति चाबेलबाट कालिमाटीजाने बस पाउन कम्तिमा नि आधा घन्टा त कुर्नै पर्थ्यो । बसभित्र एउटा तोरीको दाना राख्ने सम्म ठाउँ नहुँदा पनि खलासी " ओ दिदी अलि उता सर्नु न" भनेको भनै गर्थ्यो । हामी बसमा चढ्ने मान्छे पनि त उस्तै, आफू बस चढ्ने बेलामा जति सुकै भिड भएपनि चढेरै छोड्थ्यौं, आनि एकछिन पछि अरुमान्छे आए भने खलासीलाई गाली गर्न थाल्थ्यौं। बढि मान्छे किन हालेको भन्दै । तर आज एकाएक भएको यो परिवर्तनले साँच्चै भन्दा मैले पचाउनै सकिरहेकी छैन ।एक्कासी हाम्रो नेपालमा विकसित देशको बस सेवा कहाँ बाट आयो ?

एकदम ठिक समयमा आज कलेज पुगियो । कलेज पुगेपछि एक पछि अर्को छक्क पार्ने कुरा देख्न थालें म । आज कलेजमा मेरा सबै साथीहरु युलिफर्ममा आएका छन् । पहिले पहिले कलेज प्रशासनले जति भन्दा पनि, कानमा तेल हालेर बस्नेहरु, आज पुरै अनिशासित देखिन्छन् । सबै भन्दा बढी हल्लाहुने मा कहलिएको हाम्रो क्लास आज शान्त छ, हल्ला गर्ने साथीहरु नि ध्यान दिएर पढे जस्ता पो देखिन्छन !!

'नेपालमा हुने गरेको रोबोट कम्पीटीसन एकदम सानो स्केलमा छ, कति हामी हामीमात्र कम्पीटीसन गर्ने ? हामीले बाहिरका युनिभर्सिटीहरुलाई पनि समावेश गर्नुपर्छ अब । मैले जापानका दुइवटा युनिभर्सिटीका मान्छेसँग पनि कुरा गरिसकें , रेस्पोन्स पोजेटिभ नै छ । हेरौं न हाम्रा hi-tech रोबोटसँग विदेशीले कसरी कम्पीट गर्छन् ? " क्लासको सबै भन्दा हल्ला गर्ने र क्लास बन्क गर्ने काममा कहलिएको साथीले भन्यो । मैले केही भनिन । आज म कसैलाई केही भन्ने अवस्थामा छैन ।

कलेजमा नितान्त नयाँ अनुभूति लिएर घर फर्कें म । आज शहर निकै सफा र सुन्दर देखियो । धुलो, धुवाँ, ट्राफिक जाम केही छैन आज । सडकको छेउछाउमा जथाभावी पसलहरु छैनन् । मानिसहरुको भिड नि छैन । सबै आँफैमा अनुशासित देखिन्छन् । आहा कस्तो राम्रो परिवर्तन । यस्तै भए त हामी पनि किन जानु अमेरिका ? म नि gre पढ्न आजै छोडिदिन्छु, बेकारको टेन्सन । कुन नेताले ल्याए होलान् हाम्रो देशमा यो परिवर्तन ? पहिले त देशको लागी सोचिदिने नेता पाउनै गार्हो थियो यहाँ । आफूलाई आफ्नै देशको बारेमा थाह नहुनुमा हीनता बोध भए पनि देशको यो परिवर्तन मा भनें मख्ख पर्दैछु म ।

त्यसैबेला पुन: आमाको स्वर सुनियो - " होइन कति बेर सुत्छेस् हँ तँ ? कलेज जान ढिलो भइसक्यो । छिटो उठ् !" मैले आँखा खोलें , लाइन छैन, पानी नि आको छैन, एक मग पानी राखिदेको छु बाथरुममा, तेत्तिले नै मुख धो है " म उठिको देखे पछि भन्नु भो उहाँले!

त्यसपछि म राम्रै सँग ब्युँझिएँ । अगाडिका सबै कुरा त फगत् सपना मात्र पो रहेछन् ।

वाओ !! रिमिक्स गीत

समाचार पो कतै आउँदै छ कि भनेर एफ एम रेडियोको कान बटार्दै के थिएँ, नारायण गोपालको "यो सम्झिने मन छ, म बिर्सुं कसोरी....." गीतले कोठा गुञ्जायमान भयो । " हिन्दी, अंग्रेजी, पप र र्याप गीत सुनाउनु नै गौरव सम्झने एफ एमहरु मध्ये कुन चाहिंले यो सुमधुर गीत बजाएछ ! कतिपय एफ एममा साहित्यिक कार्यक्रम प्रसारण गरिन्छन् , तिनै कार्यक्रममा यो गीतले ठाउँ पायो होला; हुन सक्छ कसैका जीवनका कथालाई प्रस्तोता रोइहालुँला झैं गर्दै प्रस्तुत गर्दै होलान् अनि सन्दर्भ मिलेर यो गीत बजाइएको होला । " यति सोचिसकेकीमात्र के थिएँ, नारायण गोपालको सुरिलो  स्वरलाई होच्याउँदै एउटा कर्कश स्वर रेडियोको स्पीकरबाट निस्कियो -- " या ! या! या! आइ रिमेम्बर यु, हाउ हाउ क्यान आइ फर्गेट ...." हरे शिव यो पनि रिमिक्स गीत पो रहेछ, आफैं आफ्नै पुस्तालाई धिक्कार्दै मैले रेडियो बन्द गरिदिएँ ।

समय कटाउने अर्को माध्यम  टेलिभिजन खोलें मैले । नेपाली च्यानलमा सुन्दर नेपाली षोडशीहरु नाचिरहेकाथिए । " हिमालको काखमा छ , सानो मेरो गाउँ, पर्वतकी छोरी हुँ म पार्वती हो नाउँ ..." भन्दै नाचिरहेका ती हिमालको काखमा घर भएका पर्वतका छोरी पार्वतीहरुको पहिरन भने जेनिफर, ब्रिटिनी र मल्लिकाहरुको भन्दा कम थिएन । लगाउन त चौबन्दी चोलो र फरिया नै लगाएका  थिए तिनले तर बाहुला साहुला नभएको एकबित्ते चोलो अनि घुँडाभन्दा निकै माथिका फरिया!! मलाई भनन्न रिंगटा लागेजस्तो भयो, भाउन्न भयो, यस्तो म्युजिक भिडियोलाई बनाउने, तिनमा खेल्ने अनि तिनलाई प्रशारण गर्नेहरुको निर्लज्जता देखेर !

टि भीमा दर्शकसँग फोनमा कुरा गर्ने कार्यक्रममा दिइएको रहेछ त्यो गीत ! पढेलेखेका भएकाले होला, कहिकेकाहीं ति प्रश्तोता निकै गहकिला कुरा गर्छन् । तर नेपाङ्ग्रेजी बोल्नुलाई नै अर्वाचिन सभ्यतामान्ने आजको पुस्ताको सोचाइबाट फरक उनीपनि छैनन् । त्यसैले त अस्ति एकदिन "जननी जन्मभूमीश्च स्वर्गादपी गरियसी" लाई नेपालीमा उल्था गर्नुपर्दा आमा  र मातृभूमी हुन् स्वर्ग  भन्दा पनि ठूला भन्नुको साटो जे पायो उही भनेर टारेका थिए यिनले । नेपाली साहित्य मनपराउनु अनि संस्कृत शब्दहरुका अर्थ जान्नुलाई पाखेपनको नाम दिने हाम्रो पुस्ताबाट अरु आशपनि के नै गर्न सकिन्छ र!

मैले हेर्दै गरेको त्यो कार्यक्रममा पनि कुरा रिमिक्स गीतकै बारेमा हुँदै रछ! " रिमिक्स सङ्गहरु कस्तो  लाग्छ तपाईंलाई ?" "एकदम राम्रो लाग्छ, यसबाट हाम्रा पुराना गीतहरु फेरि सुन्न पाइन्छ नि, नयाँ स्टाइलमा बिर्सिसकेको गीतहरुलाई रिमेम्बर गर्न सकिन्छ" प्रस्तोताको प्रश्नमा दर्शकले यस्तो उत्तर दिए ! बीचबीचमा बज्ने ताल न सुरको र्यापले पुराना, आदरणिय गायक, गायिका , गीतकार र संगीतकारको अपमान गरिरहेको हुन्छ भन्ने तर्फ यी दर्शकको ध्यानै गएनछ  । कतिपय गायकले पुराना गायकका गीतहरु पुन: आफूले गाएका छन्, मूल गायक, गीतकार र संगीतकारहरुको पनि नाम उल्लेख गरेर सम्मान पनि गरेका छन् अनि गीतको सुर ताल, लय र सङ्गीतमा  कुनै फेरबदल पनि ल्याउँदैनन् , त्यस्तो पो बरु राम्रो हुन्छ , स्रष्टाको पनि सम्मान हुन्छ ।

उत्तर दिने दर्शकको रोजाइमा अर्को उत्ताउलो रिमिक्स गीत प्रस्तुत हुन थाल्यो, च्यानल बदल्न के आँटेकी थिएँ मेरो भाइ दौडंदै आयो, " वाओ! मेरो फेवरेट सङ्ग, च्यानल चेन्ज नगर है " उ टेलिभिजन सेट अगाडी पलेंटी कसेर बस्यो । मैले थपक्क रिमोट राखिदिंएँ र अर्को कोठातिर लागें समय कटाउने राम्रो माध्यमको खोजीमा !!

Mobile Computer

Computer is the thing on which present world is based upon. Urban people utilize and want to increase the utilization of the computer, rural people want to see, touch and know more about the computer. Everyone wants to read, know and explore more about the computer and its utilities.

Initially, the computers were very big, expensive, space consuming and non portable. They contained huge storage units having about 18000 vacuum tubes. Then the size of the computer went on decreasing and we get handier and cheaper PCs, laptops and palmtops than we used to in the past.

As we know, people always shift their interests towards the recent developments and newer technologies, people of new generation are very much curious and enthusiastic towards the mobile phones. Although the developments of the mobile phones began from 1946, it has now been introduced to almost every part of the world. The initial objective of the mobile phone was just to receive and make calls and be available to the known ones for 24 hours. However, these days mobile phone is something more than just making or receiving calls.

As the world is becoming smaller due to technological advancement in the IT sector, the companies of the developed countries have now become successful to embed the computers itself to smaller devices such as the mobile phones. Since mobile phone is the most essential commodities in the present world, embedding computers to the mobile phones has been more fruitful.

A mobile phone has substantially all of the computing capabilities desired by a large fraction of the public. Now people do not want to go to the trouble of installing and maintaining a personal computer. We use mobile phones to talk and send SMA but also to play games and create audio video files, make spreadsheets, surf on the net, send emails and chat as well. There are many web sites which install new software to our mobile phones. We can do every thing on the mobile phone which we can do on the computer. Talking about the recent developments in the world, Toshiba Company of Japan has created a mobile phone having 4GB capacity 0.85-inch hard disk drive.

It is now possible to edit video clips on our own mobile phone and make a splashy presentation enriched by special visual effects and titles, all without having to learn complex software or editing techniques.

To send mails and surf on the net, the mobile phones and the mobile companies generally use the GSM (Global System for Mobile communication) based GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) technology. GPRS offers faster data transmission via a GSM network within a range 9.6Kbits to 115Kbits. In case of Nepal, Nepal Telecom has not introduced this technology and the subscribers of NTC mobile are yet deprived of utilizing this latest technology. However, Spice Nepal has provided GPRS technology and the users of "Mero Mobile"can now surf on the net if they have the privilege in their mobile set.

We can also use the word processing, spreadsheet software on the mobile. It really saves the time when we are busy preparing the reports or making any spreadsheet table or chart.

We can perform digital photo organization, editing, printing, uploading to printing services, and publishing to the Web. For all these jobs, if we do not have a mobile phone, we have to have a digital camera to take the photo snaps and then a computer to perform the processing tasks. But with a mobile phone having a camera, we can take photos and do all the processing within some minutes.

There's no denying that mobile phones are getting more powerful. As handsets grow more powerful, and as they converge with other devices or functions, users rely on them more and more, just as they have traditionally relied on PCs to perform many computing needs. Users as well as carriers and developers are now treating mobile phones more and more as mobile computers . Handsets have been evolving incrementally to reflect this evolution, now the chips that power them are reflecting this change as well.

As the phone is evolving from just a communication tool to a mobile computer, application developers are working hard to improve them. These applications do not try to cram a PC interface or functionality into a handset; rather they make the most of the phone's abilities to reach similar goals as PC-based applications. The ability of new handsets is to handle all sorts of functions and applications done by the computers.

As all the things have the advantages and disadvantages, this high tech mobile set has also some of the disadvantages. Because it is very small, the criminals can misuse it by using for the criminal activities.

However, if we use these mobile computers in the right way, there are many advantages.

A Trip to Nepal changed John Wood's Life

John Wood was a man who achieved the American dream. A businessman at Microsoft since 1991, he was worth millions of dollars. He lived in the lap of luxury—he flew business class around the world, lived in a beautiful home and had a personal chauffeur. "There were times when I looked around and felt like I just hit the jackpot," he says.

Then, John took a vacation that would change his life forever. "My first trip to Nepal in 1998 was taken just to escape from the constant 7/24, commando, business-warrior lifestyle," he says. "I trekked for 18 days through areas that had no paved roads, no cars, no telephones. People were living in poverty in conditions that I just found shocking."

During his trip, John took an opportunity to visit a school, thinking he would see the "real Nepal." What he saw depressed him. Seventy five or 80 kids were crammed into a small room with dirt floors. "Most importantly, they had a library that had only about 20 books that were backpacker cast-offs, completely inappropriate for children," he says. "And I wondered, 'How can you ever break the cycle of poverty if the kids don't get educated?'"

John vowed to return to the school within a year to bring books for a new library. "One of the teachers said to me, 'Many people have told us they will come back, but nobody ever does.'"
